Chialisp is a powerful and secure LISP-like language for encumbering and releasing funds with smart-contract capabilities. The two general approaches to smart transaction environments so far have been from Bitcoin and Ethereum, which I’ll be referring to as ‘the UTXO model’ and ‘the Solidity model’. In the UTXO model the only data which needs to be kept by servers is the current set of unspent coins. The Solidity model by contrast has huge amounts of on-chain state including running programs and the effects of a transaction can’t always be determined before it actually runs. What we’ve figured out with Chialisp (and the surrounding CLVM) is how to keep the UTXO model but add in the general power of Solidity. Bram and Richard will discuss the "why" of using Lisp for smart contracts, the design rational of the various language features of ChiaLisp, and the challenges of language development on a blockchain You can find our more on https://chialisp.com About the speakers, Bram Cohen is an American computer programmer, best known as the author of the peer-to-peer (P2P) BitTorrent protocol, as well as the first file sharing program to use the protocol, also known as BitTorrent. He is the inventor of Chia and the founder of the Chia Project. Richard Kiss is Canadian. He's a full-fledged nerd, complete with a math scholarship from UCLA. He got started in stand-up comedy by teaching math courses. Between gigs, he implemented the CLVM and the first version of the CLVM compiler.
