Implants in the Esthetic Zone - Live Surgery in Hong Kong, May 2023

Congenitally missing laterals in the maxilla can be a very good opportunity to get started with advanced aesthetic implant cases. At the same time, such cases can be very misleading, tricking the surgeon into mistakes that can be very difficult to correct. Why? It's all about reading the anatomy. Typically, such cases come with a very specific configuration of the bone and the soft tissue, as there is a significant reduction in bone width, but usually not in bone height. Furthermore, as a result of growth, the position of the deciduous teeth (and consecutively the bone) ends up to be quite palatal in relation to the neighbouring teeth. In the end, such cases require very careful prosthetic-driven planing in order to avoid the traps and end up with both a sustainable and aesthetic implant prosthesis! Last month we treated such a case during a live surgery course in our course in Hong Kong!
