A dialogue between national emerging Black artists with ties to the South who have been influenced by Bailey’s work and ethos. Topics include: •The importance of place and regional identity in contemporary art •Mentorship and artistic lineage in the Black South •Creating from and for Southern Black communities in the national and international art conversation Panelists Include: Michi Meko – Known for his conceptual explorations of survival, memory, and the Black male experience in the American South. Navin Norling – Mixed media artist working with abstraction, architecture, and cultural symbolism rooted in Black Southern identity. Ato Ribeiro – Multidisciplinary artist incorporating wood, textiles, and Ghanaian traditions in deeply layered reflections on diasporic heritage. Sheila Pree Bright – Renowned photographer whose work documents social justice, identity, and the psychological landscape of the South. Moderated by Karen Comer Lowe – Curator, educator, and cultural strategist with long-standing curatorial engagement with Radcliffe Bailey’s work and deep ties to the Southern art scene.
