A Tornado Watch has been issued for central Ohio on Wednesday as strong to possibly severe storms move through the region. The main threats are heavy rainfall and strong to damaging winds, with a few tornadoes and severe hail also being possible. We're looking at two waves of moisture, with the most likely one to be severe moving in later in the afternoon and into the evening. After 8 p.m., air temps drop like a rock into the 40s and eventually the 30s overnight. This will cut off the severe weather component. This alert will cover two periods, one in the morning and one later in the afternoon and evening. In the morning, the main risk will be centered around flooding and heavy rain, along with strong winds, as wave one of storms moves across the region. There is a risk for severe weather during this period, but the higher threat remains later in the day. By Wednesday afternoon, we are expecting storms riding along a cold front to move into the region. These storms will have a better chance to be on the strong to severe side, with strong winds and additional heavy rain threats being the main concern. The risk for a few tornadoes and severe hail will also accompany this line of storms, so make sure you are staying weather aware! After 8-9 p.m., the risk will drop as much colder air filters into central Ohio. Temps drop from 70 degrees into the 40s quickly and eventually into the 30s. The precipitation may even end with a few snowflakes.
