TOA SE recently successfully installed a large custom robotic welding cell that welds machined pins onto metal plates. The cell utilizes six Yaskawa Motoman robots. The cell includes a custom system that feeds the pins and had slots for 11 different pin types. This cell also includes an induction heater to preheat the pins prior to them welding. This cell is capable of producing 120 different part types depending on various pin and plate combinations. This cell replaced an old existing welding cell and has led to a 45% reduction in cycle time for producing this parts.
