What is the difference between living off grid and being fully self sufficient? And how much land do you need?! Over the past four months we have greatly increased our push for food self-sufficiency by growing the majority of our fruit and vegetables. This week we discuss what it means to be truly self-sufficient and how much land, in our opinion, you need in order to achieve this. Over winter 2021-22 we built a poly tunnel which we started growing in in February. Since growing and harvesting more of our own food, we have spent a lot of time talking about what it means to be fully self sufficient, and how this differs to living off grid. We have heard so many people talk about how much land is needed for self-sufficiency (for food and wood fuel) and it has varied from 5 acres to 50 acres!
