Qujing Normal University (QJNU) is located in Qujing city, the second largest city in Yunnan province, the hometown of the Cuan culture, and one of the Top 10 National Residence-Friendly Cities in China, and where the Pearl River, which is the third longest river in China, originates. The history of QJNU can be traced back to 1907 when a Teachers Training Institute was founded. In 1912, the Third Provincial Teachers School of Yunnan was established and in 1956, the school was renamed Qujing Teachers School. In 1977, the school began to enroll undergraduate students in collaboration with Kunming Normal College. In 1978, Qujing Junior Teachers College was established. In 1993, the college was renamed Qujing Senior Teachers College. In 1984, Qujing College of Education was established. In March 2000, the former three schools of Qujing Senior Teachers College, Qujing College of Education and Qujing Teachers School were merged into QJNU. In June 2007, QJNU received a B rating in the undergraduate education accreditation by the national Ministry of Education, and since 2010, the university has become one of the key universities enrolling high-quality students in Yunnan province. In December 2011, QJNU was awarded the prize of A National Civilized Unit by the Central Committee of Civilization Construction in China.
