Contents: 00:00 - Video Introduction 08:40 - Lecture Introduction 13:50 - Physical Nature of TMS 42:35 - Who gets TMS? 01:10:03 - The Psychology of TMS 01:36:52 - The Treatment of TMS 02:09:49 - Video Conclusion This is a lecture that, for a time, Sarno routinely gave to people experiencing The Mindbody Syndrome (TMS). While this video may be useful to anyone experiencing TMS, I have uploaded it in connection to my own video, A Mindbody Approach to (Protracted) Withdrawal Syndrome. There, I proposed that "withdrawal syndrome" is a form of TMS, with the same psychological basis and therefore a similar "treatment." I hope this video may be of use to you. By the way in 2021 a pilot clinical trial at Harvard University (https://tinyurl.com/2enudtvt) put Sarno's theory to the test: 75% of participants completed the trial pain free or almost completely pain free compared to 18%-25% in the "usual care" groups, therefore making it the most successful pain clinical trial ever conducted. This is not to say that it only works for 75% of people as these are only the results for the duration of the clinical trial and follow-up period, some people just take longer to recover. Sarno said virtually everyone recovers with this approach. For those asking for the workbook, the closest thing to that can be found in Sarno's book The Divided Mind but this is a complex text at times. Nicole Sachs, who worked with Sarno, recently released a book called Mind Your Boy which is simpler to read and functions as a more detailed guide. *YouTube has put ads on this video.
