A single sound can silence the storm within. Bhramari Pranayama — the “humming bee breath” — is one of yoga’s simplest yet most powerful practices. It calms the mind, balances your nervous system, and brings instant clarity. In this video, we journey through: The ancient legend of Bhramari Devi — the Goddess whose humming vibration dissolved darkness. The science behind the practice — from nitric oxide release to alpha brain waves. And finally, the guided practice itself — so you can experience this sacred sound within minutes. How to Practise Bhramari (Traditional Method) Please learn this from a qualified yoga or pranayama teacher before beginning regular practice.* Steps: 1. Sit comfortably on the floor in a cross-legged position, or on a chair with feet flat or ankles crossed. 2. Keep your spine straight and shoulders relaxed. 3. Gently close your eyes and bring your hands to your face. 4. Use your thumbs to softly close your ears. 5. Index fingers on the inner corners of your eyes, 6. Middle fingers beside your nose, 7. Ring and little fingers just above your lips. 8. Take a deep breath in through your nose. 9. As you exhale, make a soft humming sound — like the gentle buzz of a bee. Feel the vibration spread through your face, head, and chest. Continue for five slow rounds, letting the sound and stillness calm your mind. When finished, lower your hands, keep your eyes closed, and sit quietly for a few moments in silence. ⚠️ DISCLAIMER Although I am a certified yoga teacher, I am NOT a medical practitioner. Through this video, I hope to share what I have personally learnt, absorbed, and practised from India’s ancient wisdom traditions. If you have any medical condition — especially related to the heart, lungs, or ears — please consult a qualified expert before practising. Bhramari can also be practised traditionally with hand mudras — please learn the correct technique from a trained instructor, or contact me personally to learn it he traditional way.
