Studio RE:VIVE, a newly founded unique recording studio, is a testament to the history of musical and audio innovation in The Netherlands. Outfitted solely with musical equipment of Dutch origin, the one-of-a-kind studio posses a wholly “Dutch” sound. This compilation features compositions crafted either entirely or partially in Studio RE:VIVE during its first year of operation and is a small showcase of what this cornucopia of Dutch musical instrument heritage has to offer. For much of the 20th century, The Netherlands defined how the world consumed, recorded and shared music. With the invention of the cassette and the CD (partially), Philips, the global electronics giant solidified The Netherlands’ place in musical history. But beyond these two inventions, even in The Netherlands, knowledge and awareness about just how much musical and recording equipment had been made or invented is largely unknown. Studio RE:VIVE brings this history back to life and into the hands of a wide array of musicians. From the organ giant Eminent-Solina, former global guitar behemoth Egmond, solid state amp champions Novanex, leading drums and percussion builders Adams and Majestic, best-kept-secret mixer and outboard gear builder D&R and numerous other small, DIY and boutique builders, Studio RE:VIVE gives space to everyone who’s left their mark on the Dutch musical timeline. With this compilation, the featured musicians not only share their own musical visions but breathe life into decades of neglected and forgotten instruments fusing the old and new.
