The Covid-19 pandemic pushed people back to farming in our country. That means employment in the agriculture sector increased. +8.93% between 2019 and 2022 to be precise. This happened for the first time in 19 years since 2000! You may know that we have a huge informal sector. A situation where regular workers are employed without written contracts. But do you know how huge it is? Nearly 62% in 2022 up from 59.6% in 2005! If we talk about unemployment, almost 83% of the unemployed population is young (15-29 years). What is even more frustrating is that 66% of the unemployed people in our country are educated! Unemployment is a big problem in our country, and the solution can be figured out if we quantify the problem correctly.
