This is just my thoughts regarding the Sony MDR M1 and why it's becoming one of my favorite closedback studio monitor headphones of the ones I've tested and owned. It's incredibly comfortable for long hours on end (at least for me). It's quite accurate. Imo more accurate than the AKG K371. Less bassier than the Shure 8040A. And it's also less harsh and less unpleasant sounding than the MDR 7506 and DT770. It's also much more durable than the RODE lineup of headphones. It also is a million times more comfortable than the M40x (which btw has pretty bad clamping force). The only real competitor might be the M50x but I'd give the edge in comfort to the MDR M1. I also much prefer the MDR M1 over the (now returned and tossed) Adam H200 because those couldn't detect any flaws. 00:00 Introduction 00:56 Compared to the MDR 7506 1:53 Compared to the ATH M50x 2:15 Compared to the AKG K371 2:37 Compared to the Shure 8040A 2:51 Bass 3:04 Test track 1 3:57 Subbass 4:07 Test track 2 (sub-bass) 4:26 Test track 3 (sub-bass) 4:45 Female vocals 6:18 Test track 4 (male vocals) 6:46 Critical listening (bad audio) 8:02 Talking about the HD6xx problems 8:25 Studio monitoring (my own voice and microphone) 9:32 Final thoughts
