The Liver Transplant Team at Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMC&H) successfully performed a cadaver liver transplant, giving a new lease of life to a 66-year-old patient battling chronic liver disease. A 70-year-old woman at Max Hospital, Mohali, was declared brain dead, and her family’s noble decision to donate her organs made this possible. Led by Dr. Gursagar Singh Sahota, Chief Liver Transplant Surgeon, the team retrieved the liver and transported it via a green corridor. Sh. Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the donor’s family, commending their invaluable contribution. Dr. GS Wander, Principal, DMC&H, emphasized the significance of organ donation, hoping this act inspires more to save lives. Dr. Sandeep Sharma, Medical Superintendent, DMC&H, praised the unwavering dedication of the medical teams in making this transplant possible. Dr PL Gautam, Professor & Head, Department Critical Care Medicine and Dr Suneet Kathuria, Professor & Head, Department Anesthesia played a vital role in making this transplant successful.
