An issue central to the future of Manitoba is the health and vitality of Lake Winnipeg and its watershed. It is an issue that will remain on the Manitoba policy agenda for years to come. We must ask what is happening to Lake Winnipeg and what we can do about it. Join Norm Brandson (Co-Chair, Forum for Leadership on Water), Murray Claman (Forum for Leadership on Water), Bob Sanford (Forum for Leadership on Water) and Colleen Sklar (Executive Director, Lake Friendly Initiative) to discuss a draft reference under the Canada/US Boundary Waters Treaty to the International Joint Commission on nutrient management in the Red River Valley with particular attention to Lake Winnipeg. This part features a question and answer portion with audience members asking questions of the panelists. By bringing together government, practitioners, scholars and members of the community, the Manitoba Institute for Policy Research will further debates and discussion on matters of policy development, administration, and analysis both in Manitoba and across the country. Currently we are working with the Government of Manitoba, the Federal Government, the United Way of Winnipeg, and other voluntary sector agencies on developing and implementing new outreach, training, and research opportunities.
