More information about the video content bellow: 1. The world's largest pyramid is not in Egypt but in Mexico. The largest pyramid, and the largest monument ever constructed, is the Great Pyramid of Cholula de Rivadabia. It is 55 m tall, and its base covers an area of nearly 18.2 ha. Its total volume has been estimated at 4.45 million m³ compared with the current volume of 2.4 million m³ for the Pyramid of Khufu or Cheops. 2. Mexico's official name is United Mexican States. With an estimated population of over 120 million, it is the eleventh most populous country and the most populous Spanish-speaking country in the world while being the second most populous country in Latin America. Mexico is a federation comprising thirty-one states and a Federal District, its capital and largest city. 3. Mexico has no official language. Spanish is the de facto language of the country, but there are 68 other officially recognized distinct indigenous languages. 4. Corn was first domesticated in Mexico 9,000 years ago. Archaeologists have discovered that people have known about popcorn for thousands of years. In Mexico, for example, they’ve found remnants of popcorn that dates to around 3600 BC. Many historians even believe that popcorn is the first corn that humans even knew about. 5. San Francisco was part of Mexico until the Mexican-American War in 1848 and it used to be called Yerba Buena. In fact, Mexico used to be much larger, owning most of what is today the West Coast of the United States of America. The war between the 2 started after Texas declared its independence in 1836 and then joined the USA in 1845. 6. Yucatan, Mexico, was named after a misunderstanding. Spaniards asked the locals what was the place called. They replied "Yucatan," which in their language means "I don't understand you." For the Mayan civilization, this was a very important region for the Mayan civilization, which reached the peak of its development on this place, where the Mayans founded the cities of Chichen Itza, Izamal, Motul, Mayapan, Ek' Balam and Ichcaanzihóo (also called T'ho). 7. In 1943, a fissure opened in a farmer's cornfield in Mexico, growing into a five story tall volcano in only a week and up to 335 metres after a year. The eruptions of Parícutin Volcano presented the first occasion for modern science to document the full life cycle of an eruption of this type.
