Welcome to Episode 4 of The Tennessee Fats Library Podcast! In this episode I'll walk through Edgar Rice Burroughs' The Cave Girl which is a really odd take on ERB's normal Savage Epic themes. This one has a reverse Tarzan Story Plot as well as a Standard Tarzan Story Plot but with the Gender Roles reversed. Part of me thinks that ERB made his one really as a literary exercise to see what he could do and could not do with his standard Savage Epic Theme. Because of the way this one was originally produced this one reads as two distinct stories and even the writing style changes at the midpoint. Although this one is another long one I'll stick with the same format I've worked through on the last episodes. I'll start with a brief summary of when this one was published and what version I'm reading and then we'll get into the following topics: 1) What's the Story About? 2) What are the major Themes that Occur In the Story? 3) What aspect of this story hit the hardest for me? 4) What further readings are suggested if you like this story?
