Welcome to abnormal outdoors where we discuss all outdoor activities. in this video, I show a little trick that I learned as a boy always camping on the riverbank. back then we couldn't afford good gear or lightweight gear so we used what we had like old truck tarps (that weighed a ton) and when they got wet wow they really weight a lot . we loved to camp on the creek bank where the soil was sandy or muddy and soft then if it rained (when you need your tarp the most ) in the middle of the night your stakes would pull out nothing worse than getting up in the middle of the night in the rain to pound a stake in the ground so I thought about how a porcupine quill works it is a sharp spine but as soon as hits the water it swells up and speeds into barbs so I just did the same to my tent stakes basically feather stick the stake (a modern term) I have had these stakes in the ground for more than a week and couldn't get them out but because I mad the stakes out of willow or mulberry trees I found the next year that spouted remember to use just the branch and not the tree mulberry is a tree that you almost can't kill I know that this is a simple trick but sometimes they are the best and thanks for watching and remember to subscribe to abnormal outdoors
