Human–Wildlife Conflict Workshop Organised at LAHDC Kargil Kargil, Ladakh In Ladakh, Department of Forest, Ecology & Environment, UT Ladakh, in collaboration with WWF India and the Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh, organised a Human–Wildlife Conflict Workshop at the Conference Hall of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil. The programme was organised by the Wildlife Protection Division, Kargil. The workshop was chaired by Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, who attended the event as the Chief Guest. Executive Councillor Er. Punchok Tashi was the Guest of Honour, while Aga Syed Mujtaba attended as Special Guest. Chief Wildlife Warden & APCCF, UT Ladakh, Shri Rajesh S, IFS, participated in the programme through online mode. Also present on the occasion were Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Shri Rakesh Kumar, IAS, SSP Kargil Shri Nitin Yadav, IPS, senior officers of the Forest Department, elected public representatives, and other stakeholders. Addressing to media, Wildlife Warden, Kargil, Ali Raza, highlighted the rising cases of human–wildlife conflict in the district, particularly livestock losses due to wild animals. He emphasized the importance of community involvement, scientific mitigation measures, and coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to reduce such conflicts. The workshop focused on collecting feedback from local public representatives and stakeholders to formulate a long-term and effective strategy aimed at minimizing human–wildlife conflict while ensuring wildlife conservation and protection of local livelihoods. The programme concluded with a commitment to strengthen cooperation between the Forest Department, administration, WWF India, and local communities to promote peaceful coexistence between humans and wildlife.
