Welcome to the beginning of Widgeon Sportfishing. Three 22 year olds with a dream. In this video we show some old footage we had of the first time we went to look at the 1988 Hatteras 55 Convertible ‘Magic Circle’. Things didn’t go as planned the first time around due to reasons we will get more into depth about later, but we got another chance and jumped on it. No survey, half a seatrial, and lots of prayers. Basically a Facebook marketplace deal of a lowball offer and “I’ll come pick it up today”. With some quick maintenance and as many spare parts + filters that we could get our hands on we took the leap and embarked on a 1200+ nautical mile trip from Fall River, MA to Delray Beach, FL. Old Detroit’s wrapped in old fiberglass. It was one hell of a seatrial. The video is rough, missed a lot due to just being beat up from lack of sleep and crewing issues along the way, trying to get back to Florida in a reasonable amount of time. Next video will be more in depth as far as costs, upkeep, and we’ll get into our plans with the boat + some fishing. The quick plan is to enjoy it while we’re young with the work schedules we have, but mainly we want to bring people aboard, that have never had the opportunity in life fishing a sporty and work with Make-A-Wish in the near future taking kids to do some sport fishing!
