In this talk, we'll show how a beginner can learn to program to contribute with an open-source project by building an application that is a good fit for a real-time use case that takes advantage of some Phoenix behaviors like PubSub, Presence, LiveView: an app to create a conference and can allow users to submit great ideas to for events (in-person and virtually) and engage with attendees. The application has some other functionalities too like giving likes in talks the attendees love, sending questions to the speaker, and scheduling a lunch or even a happy hour after the event.
