Are you curious about how gender and pronouns fit into your ECE practice? Maybe you’re working with a gender creative child, or a colleague using they/them pronouns, or wonder what might happen if you do so in the future? CCCF presents this recorded webinar as a gentle, compassionate introduction to how ECEs can confidently navigate gender diversity using evidence-based strategies. Using picture books, case studies, and the provincial frameworks, we will explore how finding joy and pride in our own gender stories can foster a welcoming, liberating ECE space for children of all gender identities and expressions. We will also share how participants can enroll in a free, 7-hour asynchronous course, "Gender and Gender Diversity in ECE" Presenter, Dr. Lindsay Herriot, PhD is an adjunct assistant professor in the Faculty of Education and the School of Child and Youth Care, and a sessional instructor with the Department of Gender Studies at the University of Victoria. She is also an inclusive learning teacher in School District 61. The co-founder of the Gender Generations Project, and Early Learning Hive, her research focuses on LGBTQ youth, trans joy and resilience, moral panics, youth citizenship, student participatory action research, religious diversity, and educational policy. Lindsay is the author of board books about using they/them pronouns with newborns and the co-editor of an anthology written by trans youth. Of Acadian and Scottish background, Lindsay is fluent in English and French.
