Ginger has many medicinal properties - helps relieve cough, cold and improves digestion. Shunti Tambuli is prepared in two ways - one with raw Ginger and another after frying the Ginger in Ghee. Ingredients: Ghee - 1 tsp Chopped Ginger - 2 Tbsp Black Pepper - 6-8 Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp Red Chillies - 2-3 Grated Coconut - 1/2 Cup Salt Buttermilk - 2 Cups Seasoning Ingredients: Ghee - 1 tsp Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp Sun-Dried Chili - 1 Method: 1. Add 1 tsp Ghee to a small frying pan. 2. Once Ghee melts, add 2 Tbsp chopped Ginger and fry. 3. Add 6-8 Black Peppers. 4. Add 1 tsp Cumin Seeds and fry. 5. Once Ginger turns golden in color, add 2-3 Red Chillies and fry. 6. Transfer these fried ingredients to another bowl and cool them completely. 7. Add 1/2 Cup fresh grated Coconut to a mixer jar. 8. Add fried ingredients. 9. Add Salt as per taste and little water and prepare a smooth paste. 10. Add this paste to a bowl. 11. Add 2 Cups of fresh Buttermilk. Mix with the help of a whisk or with a ladle. 12. Seasoning: Add 1 tsp Ghee to a small frying pan. 13. Once Ghee melts, add 1 tsp Mustard Seeds. 14. Once Mustard Seeds splutters, add 1 tsp Cumin Seeds. 15. Once the Cumin Seeds turn slightly golden in color, add 1 cut sun-dried Chili. 16. Fry till the Chilies turn dark brown in color and add this seasoning immediately to the Ginger/Shunti Tambuli. Now Ginger/Shunti Tambuli is ready. Serve with hot Rice.
