Home Birth Emergency Baby Transfer | TW: Medical Scene

Home birth doesn't always go as planned. This video is created from multiple sessions. I was there for the birth and I went back twice for newborn photos and video. I also 'interviewed' the client and edited her words to be put in the video to tell her story. For those wondering... YES baby is okay. Stetson is 1 year old now and thriving with a g tube. I will never take it for granted how sacred this work is, or just how profoundly we are needed as documentarians in the birth space. The reason why most families choose to hire a birth videographer is to have a birth film that captures those first sweet moments with their baby. That was the case for my client in this video. She arranged a serene environment where she would welcome her baby, put so much positive intention and prayer into her space, and decorated it beautifully. As a filmmaker who’s also a major empath, I’m always prepared to document all the emotions - even the hard ones. What unfolded as to now being Stetson’s birth story, was unexpected, seemingly chaotic, and one that leaves a lump in your throat. I am humbled that my sweet clients trust me with telling their story in an honest way - that not only represents the difficulties they had to face, but also the love and bravery.
