This video shows Rocker Bottom's foot, a fetal anomaly. Congenital vertical talus is a rare congenital foot deformity in which the sole of a child's foot flexes abnormally in a convex position giving the foot a rocker-bottom appearance. For this reason, this condition is often called a rocker-bottom foot. A rocker-bottom foot (also known as a congenital vertical talus) is a congenital anomaly of the foot. It is characterized by a prominent calcaneus/heel and a convexly rounded sole. Congenital vertical talus is a rare congenital foot deformity in which the sole of a child's foot flexes abnormally in a convex position giving the foot a rocker-bottom appearance. For this reason, this condition is often called the rocker-bottom foot. It is characterized by a prominent calcaneus (heel bone) and a convex rounded bottom to the foot. It is usually associated with spina bifida, myelomeningocele, Patau's syndrome (trisomy 13), Edwards syndrome (trisomy 18) as well as trisomy 9. There is evidence that some isolated deformities are transmitted as an autosomal dominant feature with incomplete penetrance. The deformity is also known as congenital "rocker-bottom" flatfoot because of its rigid deformity with the forefoot dorsiflexed and the hindfoot plantarflexed.
