Fredriksten Fortress was built during 1663-1666 AD and is located at the south-east peak of Norway, nearby the border with Sweden, and it holds a high position above the town of Halden. This is the place where Swedish king Charles XII was shot dead in 1718. This place is now a tourist attraction with historic buildings, art exhibitions, and handicrafts. From the top, we can see the whole of Halden city. The white tower on top of the fortress is a clock or bell tower, and it was used as the sound alarm, to make everyone aware of the arrival of the enemy (i.e. Swedish) in their surrounding. The cannons closeby are pointed towards the street of Halden, to protect it from enemies. And the spectacular view of Halden from the top of the fortress.
