From Darkness to Light | Sunday Reflection on the Call of the First Disciples

In this Sunday Reflection, we are invited to move from darkness into God’s marvelous light and to respond generously to the call of Jesus. First Reading – Isaiah 9:1–3 “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.” God promises hope, joy, and liberation to those living in shadow and despair. Second Reading – 1 Corinthians 1:10–13, 17 St. Paul urges the Church to reject divisions and remain united in Christ, who alone is our foundation. Gospel – Matthew 4:12–23 Jesus begins His public ministry, proclaims repentance, and calls His first disciples: “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Reflection Theme: Christ is the Light who dispels darkness, heals division, and calls each of us to follow Him with courage and faith.
