Another recovered bootleg from the Rise Tonight leg of the Dream Machine Tour (1986). This is the AWN News–sponsored “Live-Fidelity Broadcast” of Nova Hart’s arena anthem, “We Rise Tonight.” Unlike most of Nova’s tour dates — which were branded and distributed by Aeterna Entertainment — this particular show was broadcast under the banner of Alliance World News (AWN). In-universe, AWN rarely attached their name to concert feeds, preferring to maintain the posture of “serious journalism.” When they did, it was almost always to reinforce cultural unity and nationalized spectacle. That sponsorship choice makes this artifact significant: AWN’s stamp indicates that the Bureau of Harmony saw We Rise Tonight not as rebellion, but as safe spectacle — a unifying anthem acceptable for mass broadcast. Note on Title Discrepancy: The studio release was officially catalogued as “Rise Tonight.” For the AWN broadcast, the title card and metadata were altered to “We Rise Tonight.” Most archivists agree this was a deliberate adjustment by Orion or AWN to emphasize collective harmony (“we”) over individual defiance (“I”), reframing the song’s meaning for mass consumption. The irony, of course, is that this track would later be reinterpreted by Humanist circles as a rallying cry against the very system that promoted it.
