It's TOKI TIME || Suntory Toki Japanese Whisky REVIEW

Is the Suntory Toki a good whisky? Let's find out! The Suntory Toki Japanese Whisky is one of Suntory's cheapest bottlings, and is often used in highball cocktails as it is a simple, uncomplicated whiskey. It's a blend of whiskeys from the Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita Distilleries, coming in at 43% ABV, with no age statement and no details on the barrels used in aging. It's most likely been chill-filtered and is likely mostly made up of grain whiskey. In Japan, you can actually find restaurants and bars with a Toki Highball tap, where they can just fill up glasses of a pre-mixed drink, but lets see how it stands up by itself! Suntory Toki Japanese Whisky Tasting Notes: Nose: Very light and fruity, there's vanilla, a bit of honeyed apple and a touch of earthy smoke Palate: Again, that earthy smoke, but very light, more apple, white grape, a touch of oak and vanilla. However, there's an unpleasant note from the grain whiskey coming through, kindd of like a harsh citrus tang Finish: The finish is very short, with a hint of earthy oak and luckily, none of the sharp notes from the palate. Ultimately, we were a little let down by this whiskey. We've recently tried the compenents of the blend, the Yamazaki Single Malt, Hakushu Single Malt and Chita Single Grain, as well as the Hibiki Harmony, so we know Suntory are making good whiskey and can blend it well, but the palate was quite disappointing.
