Classic TV Theme: Medical Center (two versions)
'Marcus Welby M.D.' focused on two doctors, one young and relatively inexperienced, and the elder, more seasoned physician. In 'Medical Center' (1969) James Daly was the mentor and Chad Everett the younger medical man. The two shows aired currently and at the time were the longest-running medical dramas on television. The opening of 'Medical Center', where the sound of an ambulance wail morphs into the show's theme, is one of Lalo Schifrin's most distinctive. But season one had a different opening and theme. 00:00 Opening titles, season one. No music in this intro, just sounds and voices. 00:27 End titles, season one. Several other composers have been credited but the screen clearly identifies Schifrin. I believe the first segment (writer/producer/director) was scored by that episode's composer, the second part is Schifrin's season one theme. 01:21 Opening titles, season three.
