Scotsman Kicks Starts Vintage Trains's 2026 Season

Hello & Welcome to Harnetty Railways In this video we have our 1st filming on the mainline since September 2023 of argubly the most famous steam locomotive. The National Railway Museum's A3 pacific 60103 Flying Scotsman while working Vintage Trains's 1st trips of the 2026 season during February Half Term. As we will see in this video we get to see Scotsman over a period of 5 days at a variety of locations from the stations & at the lineside on 2 routes in the west midlands. We start this video on the chiltern mainline during The Flying Scotsman Shuttles between Birmingham Moor Street & Dorridge basically the same itianery as Vintage Trains's The Polar Express runs which ran from the 18th to the 20th of February. We feature Scotsman in action between Widney Manor & Small Heath during the shuttle runs while top & tailing with class 47 47773. Then for the 2 Saturdays of Scotsman's visit the A3 ventured on The Shakespeare Line via Henley In Arden. For the 2 Saturdays we mostly feature Scotsman on the highlight of the route on the climb to Wood End from the lineside from Wilmcote. Scotsman on these runs performed magnificently with 9 coaches & a class 37 (14th of February) Class 47 (21st of February) in tow which on these runs the diesels were not required at all so Scotsman can give his supporters not only for the passengers on board but also for those at the lineside on what we have been missing since the loco's 100th birthday celebrations back in 2023. It was a spectacular week in getting Scotsman seeing what we have been waiting for the best part of 3 years to see. Scotsman in fine fettle on the mainline.
