The Fearful Avoidant wants close relationships and will then pull back and shut down once the relationship gets more serious. As intimacy (emotional, intellectual, physical sexual) develops, the Avoidant begin to find fault, complain and feels anxious about the 'neediness' or 'demands' of the other person. These traits are not limited to romantic relationships as this dynamic may surface in all types of relationships, work, friends, family, acquaintances, etc. The Fearful Avoidant's attention will flow outside of the primary relationship excessively as this person will put their energy, time, thoughts, feelings, and efforts in areas of their life.
