On July 15, 2021, a visit was made to Camp Ritchie to film and document the location of the Military Intelligence Training Center where my father, Fritz Francis Goldarbeiter, trained almost 80 years ago as a Ritchie Boy. He concluded his training in October 1943 and was deployed to North Africa on November 23, 1943 to serve with the Fifth Army and IV Corps under the command of General Clark. For the next 23 months, Fritz fought with the Fifth Army and IV Corps in the Italian Campaign as an expert in Order of Battle, Interrogation, and Translation. He played a pivotal role in the gathering "actionable intelligence" and the surrender of top military officers of the German Army, for which he was awarded the Bronze Star for his bravery. He completed his service as part of the Occupation Forces of Austria after the war ended in Europe on May 7, 1945. Ritchie Boys gathered nearly 60% of the actionable intelligence in Europe as disclosed in the passage of the unanimous August 10, 2021, U.S. Senate Resolution 349.
