With 40 GW of solar farms in planning waiting for grid connection this webinar looks at how developers, communities and local authorities can work together to ensure local solar farms deliver maximum biodiversity gains and nature recovery as well as delivering a net zero energy system. Some solar asset owners are already working hard to ensure their projects create additional nature and ecosystem benefits. Community Owned solar farms are also working to ensure nature benefits as well as local communities. Local communities who do not own their local solar farms, do have the benefit of the power of place. I.e. residents live near and witness nature activities. How can communities engage to ensure the solar farms near them follow best practice for nature recovery? Are there restrictions or guidance planning officers can include when assessing schemes. And how can communities or others find out what is going on with solar farms already in situ, and or influence their biodiversity impact.
