Goalkeeper coach Todd Hoffard is not only one of the brightest goalkeeping minds that I have come across, but his style of coaching is something that I’ve tried to emulate. From a coaching perspective, what stood out most for me was his clean distribution with both feet, the way in which the progressions in his session flowed seamlessly, and his subtle, yet substance based coaching tips. Rather than nitpicking every mistake or dropped ball, I felt that Todd had created an environment and culture within his group that allowed for growth and development. For the goalkeepers watching this, I hope that you saw the standard at which professional goalkeepers are held to. At the next level, you must be sharp at all times. Even if you’ve caught the first 50 balls, if you drop 51 & 52, you’re going to need to rebound quickly to make sure that rep 53 and on are clean and at a professional standard. I really enjoyed bringing this session to you guys!
