Initial purchasing and maintenance costs can make robotic equipment unaffordable, but efficient use can cut costs down. However, long-term benefits can be achieved when taking into account potential reduced recurrence and complications that patients may face when receiving the current standard of care. Eventual competition with other companies may also make robotic surgery more affordable in the future.
