Walking in the rain along the river Glatt in Dübendorf | Zurich, Switzerland 2023

The Glatt is an approximately 35km long river in the canton of Zurich in Switzerland. It originates from the Greifensee, flows through the Glatttal and flows into the Rhine. The Glatt leaves the Greifensee at an altitude of about 435 meters above sea level on its northern bank. It now flows northwestwards in the direction of Dübendorf and right at the beginning is the border river between the municipalities of Fällanden (on the left) and Schwerzenbach (on the right). In doing so, it allows several streams to flow into it: the Chimlibach, the Fällander Dorfbach, the Zilbach and the Wisbach. Now it reaches Dübendorf and flows down through the urbanized area in the Zurich agglomeration. In Dübendorf, in the Neugut quarter, the Breitibach flows in from the left and the Chriesbach from the right. Soon after, the Sagentobelbach is also included and it then flows further along the outskirts of Zurich (Schwammendingen district). Before Oerlikon it turns northwards into the Glatttal, takes in the Leutschenbach and flows through Opfikon and Glattbrugg. The Glatt now passes Zurich Airport to the west and Rümlang and Oberglatt to the east. It then meanders through Niederglatt, then takes the Fischbach from the left at Oberhöri and then reaches Bülach via Höri. Here it hugs the western outskirts of the town before it flows past Hochfelden through Glatthaldenrain further to the north.
