We used Altezza Travel to complete our adventure and we cannot recommend them enough. We opted for the 7 day Lemosho hike starting at a higher altitude for the best acclimatisation. Joseph Mosher was our lead guide (Also a guide for the Comic Relief Kilimanjaro walk 2009). Joe was recognised and acknowledged as 'Commander' by almost all the other guides and porters on the mountain and there was clearly a huge respect for this experienced Guide. We were guided by Joe and followed all instructions to give us the best chance of summiting the mountain including: partaking in acclimatisation walks that were recommended, camp site etiquette, Diamox dosage recommendations, water intake recommendations and he completed medical checks daily. Emanuel was our second guide who, at Barranco camp, had to descend with a very ill porter (We got news on summit day that he had recovered successfully) but sadly Emanuel did not summit with us. 3 porters stepped up in his place to summit with us and they could not do enough for us on the ascent. We had 40MPH gusts and -16 Celsius temperatures that made the climb on summit night tough.
