Crews were on the scene Feb. 18 to remove the propane tanker that crashed and went over an embankment on Jan. 28. The North Carolina Department of Transportation told News 13 that the section of U.S. 64 where the tanker was being pulled out would be shut down throughout the day. The NCDOT didn't have an exact timeframe on when the road would reopen to traffic. The accident happened on Jan. 28 in Jackson County near the Macon County line on U.S. 64 West. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol reported that a propane tanker truck overturned and the driver had minor injuries that were treated at the scene. The crash took out a large section of the guardrail, which would have to be replaced before the road reopens, the NCDOT said. Crews arrived on the scene in the morning hours of Feb. 18. Just after 12:30 p.m., the mangled cab portion of the tanker was pulled up by cables from a tow truck. The tanker portion was to be pulled up later in the day. The NCDOT said it would post on its social media pages when the work was done and when the road reopens. #news #localnews #crash #accident _______________ Follow WLOS on social media: WLOS ABC 13 News on Facebook: / news13 WLOS ABC 13 News on X: https://x.com/WLOS_13 WLOS ABC 13 News on Instagram: / wlos_13 Subscribe to WLOS on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/ABC13Cha...
