SInce I had the JB-12 out and was using it as a modulator pushing another small amp, I decided to pull out a not working right JB-150 and make a comparison video. The JB-12 is in good but not great condition and works great. The JB-150 is kinda rough but not too bad, but it does not work right, very low output. JB-12 keys 1-5 and swings to 30 average, 50 peak. JB-150 will dead key 1-20, but will only swing to 20 average and 30 peak. JB-12 uses a 6bq5 power tube and 150 uses a 8417 or 7581 power tube which is the high powered version of a 6l6 . Both are older versions that use a 6AQ5 tube for the keying circuit / relay. Newer versions went from the tube keying circuit to a transistor keying circuit. If an amp has a tube keying circuit then its normally not a good idea to use a foot switch on it without doing some circuit mods (adding a 12v relay). I really like modulator type amps that give you low dead key and swing, but Hams hate them. Hams say they are not Linear Amps. They would be right. They are designed to be non-linear, having lower dead key and higher swing.
