Lifelong learning at Gradia: It's always a good time to learn something new!

Jyri Vahvanen works as a counsellor for visually impaired students at Valteri School Onerva, Jyväskylä. In spring 2021, he graduated from Gradia with a special vocational qualification in rehabilitation, support, and guidance services, completing modules in guidance of the visually impaired. He wanted to update his qualification and upskill his competencies. Studying is a good way to develop in work and to progress in one’s career. Studying has given Jyri time and the opportunity to stop and reflect on his own work. Combining studies and work offers a great opportunity to do that. Often the best outcomes come from meeting other professionals around the same topics. Discussions and the exchange of information and experience is rewarding. It maybe that older qualifications have become outdated due to digitalisation and use of IT in general.
