Spring Green, Wisconsin is a unique and vibrant town located in the southwestern region of Sauk County, with the majestic Wisconsin River forming its southern boundary. The town, established in 1850, has a rich history and a strong connection to the world-renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Frank Lloyd Wright, born in nearby Richland Center, had deep roots in Spring Green, spending significant time in the area with his mother's family, the Lloyd-Joneses of Wyoming Valley. He solidified his connection to the town when he constructed the first Taliesin studio in 1911, after leaving his family and home in Oak Park, Illinois. Although his relationship with Spring Green was complicated due to personal tragedies and local disapproval, Wright's legacy has left a lasting impact on the community.
