One misty morning in El Pito, Honduras, community members gathered to plant a special tree: Sustainable Harvest International's four-millionth tree! Thanks to the generous support of our donors, farmers across Central America have planted four million trees, benefiting both people and the planet at the same time. Four million trees cover the same land area as 14,560 football fields! Trees play a critical role in the health of our planet. They protect water sources, clean the air we breathe, provide food and wildlife habitat, and absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere. They are a critical resource in fighting climate change, and they also play a significant role in reducing the risk of natural disasters, including floods, droughts, landslides, and other extreme events. “It feels good to plant these trees," says El Pito community member, Marîbel Mesa Ventura (who planted the four-millionth tree!) "They help us breathe better.
