We have here an empty spreadsheet and just to have something to work with, I am just going to enter a bit of data. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10. This goes very rapidly because every time I am finished with entering data I hit enter and the input line automatically shifts to the cell below. Now let's say we want to analyze this data set. We can do this in a number of ways. We can say, OK, I want the sum from the first one until the last one and that's it, so I close it. See how I entered this data, I just typed it in this time. But I can also use the mouse, I can type in sum, open bracket, I can now drag the cells I want to be summed, I just let go of the left mouse button and then I end the formula with closing bracket and press enter. There it is. You see this gives exactly the same result. It is also possible to make a sum of two different sets of data, let's say we enter an empty row here, we type in data, if we create a sum now of this area, you see how it inputs the data set. It has A2 cell reference until A6. What we can do is, we can type in that we want more and add the second data set and then we end the formula with a closing bracket, and there we have it. Now most of these formulas, you will never use unless you are a statistics professor. Nevertheless there are a lot of functions that are very useful.
