David Vawdrey | Transforming Healthcare Delivery & Patient Outcomes

David Vawdrey is the Chief Data Informatics Officer at the Steele Institute for Health Innovation at Geisinger. He is responsible for implementing transformational technologies and leveraging Geisinger's advanced data and informatics infrastructure to create value for patients, clinicians, researchers, and members across 13 hospital campuses, 250 clinics, a health plan with nearly 600,000 members, and the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine. Dr. Vawdrey was the founding director of New York-Presbyterian Hospital's Value Institute, where he developed and evaluated innovative clinical information systems interventions that have benefited clinicians and patients across the country. An Associate Professor at Columbia University's Department of Biomedical Informatics, Dr. Vawdrey has been a passionate teacher and adviser for informatics graduate students since 2007. Dr. Vawdrey is a national speaker on using data analytics and informatics to transform healthcare, and he is an elected Fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics. His research in areas such as clinical decision support, quality & safety, and patient engagement has resulted in over 100 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Vawdrey is a graduate of Brigham Young University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in computer engineering and a master's in computer science. He completed his Ph.D. in biomedical informatics at the University of Utah. About The William G. McGowan Fund The William G.
