Maiden Voyage of SS United States (family home movie footage, no audio)

#ssunitedstates In July 1952, Harry F and Senta Heinzerling, my great grandparents, departed from New York on the maiden voyage of the SS United States. We had this old film footage digitized a few years ago. Also featured are my grandparents, great aunt and my mother who were allowed to tour the ship before departure. Ironically and interestingly and as a testament to the longevity of the company, you might notice Moran Towing tugboats assisting the United States on its first voyage just as they did on its last voyage. At the time of posting, the SS United States is being towed on her final journey south along the east coast to meet her ultimate end as an artificial reef off the coast of Destin, FL.
