US sitcom Difficult People has been making brutal Kevin Spacey jokes for years

e weeks following the sexual assault allegations made against Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey, old jokes from comedies such as 30 Rock and Family Guy have been shown to be either horribly prescient or knowing. But one comedy has been shown to have been more consistent in making Spacey the butt of their jokes. Difficult People is a US comedy that stars creators Billy Eichner and Julie Klausner playing loose versions of themselves as struggling comedians. It's produced by Amy Poehler, among others, but its release on Hulu, a streaming service that doesn't have British access, means that the show is relatively unknown in the UK. This supercut of Spacey jokes shows the extent that the House of Cards star has been scripted into Difficult People's punchlines.  On-the-nose jokes include one in which the loveless Eichner decides he will "go the Kevin Spacey route: Just stop trying to be a human being, focus on getting famous, and then after I get my own Netflix show, focus all of my frustrations on a boyfriend young enough to be my own son".  Eichner also comments: "This is so degrading. I bet this is what Kevin Spacey feels like when some hot young Latino guy doesn't get his Jack Lemmon impression". In 2000, Spacey dedicated his Best Actor Oscar win to Lemmon, whom he compared to his father.  Since the allegations, which were initially made by Anthony Rapp, Spacey has been suspended by Netflix, who have said that House of Cards will not carry on with his character in it. He has also been cut out of the 50th anniversary special of The Carold Burnett Show
