It is one of the world’s most unique destinations, combining urban regeneration and innovation with heritage, culture and exhilarating activity. This year New Zealand marks Christchurch earthquake 10th anniversary. On Tuesday 22 February 2011 Christchurch was badly damaged by a magnitude 6.3 earthquake, which killed 185 people and injured several thousand. Many heritage buildings were heavily damaged, over a quarter of the buildings in the central business district were demolished. Christchurch rebuild is still working in progress and aiming to develop Christchurch into an innovative and modern community.
