Rebuilding a VINTAGE Milling & Drilling Quill Feed Attachment! 🛠| Part 1

We’re upgrading our Zayer milling machine by restoring an incredible piece of tooling – a vintage Huron drilling and milling attachment. One major limitation of the Zayer is the lack of a quill feed, which makes drilling jobs a challenge. But this old-school Huron quill feed attachment is about to change that! In this video, we take on the mechanical mystery of completely disassembling this 50+ year old unit piece by piece. From figuring out how to safely remove the quill and tracking down a hidden main spring mechanism, to discovering what parts are missing and need replacing – it’s like reverse-engineering a puzzle from the past. Once the quill is out, we break it down and press out the bearings to see just how this thing was built to last. You don’t see craftsmanship like this anymore, and it’s amazing to uncover how precisely everything had to fit to work properly.
