sqadia.com offers a vast surgical video library, which includes detailed surgery lectures and notes for medical students. Dr. Sana Khan’s passion for creating the best surgery lectures is evident in her comprehensive approach. In this lecture, she covers arterial surgery, arterial pathology, and acute vascular occlusion. ▬ 🔬 Arterial Surgery ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Arterial disorders are the most common cause of morbidity and death. Much of this is due to atheroma on the arteries supplying the heart muscle (coronary thrombosis and myocardial infarction) and brain (ischemic stroke), although atheroma is also common at other sites. Peripheral arterial stenosis or arterial occlusive disease is primarily caused by atherosclerosis and/or thromboembolic disease but may also result from trauma. Stenosis or occlusion produces symptoms and signs related to the organ supplied by the artery. Intermittent claudication occurs due to anaerobic muscle metabolism. The pathophysiology of intermittent claudication is explained in detail. Dr. Sana Khan also discusses chronic arterial stenosis and acute arterial occlusion. A hand-held Doppler ultrasound probe is very useful in assessing occlusive arterial disease. Digital subtraction percutaneous angiography (DSA) involves injecting a radio-opaque dye into the arterial tree using a percutaneous catheter method (Seldinger technique), usually involving the femoral artery. Surgical operations are usually reserved for patients with severe symptoms where angioplasty has failed or is not possible. Aortoiliac occlusion responds well to aortofemoral bypass using a Dacron graft, although the operation carries perioperative mortality and systemic morbidity rates of about 5% and 15%, respectively. ▬ 🎬 5500+ sqadia.com Medical Videos ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 👩🏻⚕️ Accessible Medical Student Education 24/7/365 💡 Simplifying Medical Learning 💪 Study Hard, Dream Big, Achieve More #ArterialSurgery #MedicalLecture #GeneralSurgery #MedicalEducation #Healthcare #VLearning #sqadia #Atherosclerosis #VascularHealth
