Disney: Beauty and the Beast Live On Stage

When Disney's MGM Studios first opened it was a small park lacking much to do, but strongly focused on television and the movies. Once venue that existed at the start was the Theater of the Stars, but not the one we know today. This original venue featured a variety of shows before Beauty and the Beast finally opened at 1:30 pm on November 22, 1991, the exact same day as the premiere of the movie. A first in history that a movie and the play version have opened the same day. In 1993 the show was temporarily relocated until the new and current Theater of the Stars opened on the brand new Sunset Boulevard in July of 1994. Running near continuously since it's original opening in 1991 the play is the longest running show in any of the Disney parks around the world. In all that time though it did feature one refresh in 2001 when some additional songs were added and the show was reordered to match the order that guests are more accustomed to from the film.
